Standard English Requirement

The University of Lancashire (UCLan) standard requirement for both undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses is IELTS 6.0 overall with no component below 5.5 (PG taught can alternatively be met by Academic IELTS 6.5 / 6.0 each). Clinical routes — Medicine (MBBS), Dentistry and Veterinary (BVMS) — require IELTS 7.0 in all components. Some courses require higher scores, so the statement on each official course page is authoritative. IELTS must be within two years of the course start date.

Indian Year 12 (Class XII) English

The University of Lancashire accepts Indian Year 12 English in lieu of IELTS — 70% for undergraduate and 70% or 75% for postgraduate (validity of 5 years) — but states the exact threshold is “dependent upon State Board”. The referenced state-board list is not published in the official page, so the per-board rule needs verification with Admissions.

The official India country page accepts '70% in Year 12 English' (UG) and '70% or 75% in Year 12 English' (PG, validity of 5 years) in lieu of IELTS, stating the exact threshold and eligibility are 'dependent upon State Board – see below'. Pre-Sessional English (online)

6 to 30 weeks depending on language level; delivered online via MS Teams / Blackboard, max 15 per class. Successful completion at the required grade meets the course English requirement (no separate IELTS needed).

Note: the University of Lancashire publishes numeric equivalences for PTE Academic, Duolingo, LanguageCert, Kaplan, Trinity and Cambridge. The published TOEFL iBT thresholds appear inconsistent/low and are captured exactly as published (needs verification); TOEFL ITP and TOEFL Essentials are not accepted.
